Don't insult affiliate with lame affiliate terms.Recurring billing means recurring commissions.
a longer cookie/credit than 60 days for leads to upgrade and a lower than 100$ payment threshold will get more people to promote for you as well.
Thanks for your feedback everyone. We have addressed the recurring billing issue and now have a recurring commission model available to our affiliate partners for our affiliate program in the ShareASale Network.
Our new structure will allow our affiliate partners to benefit from their referral's recurring payments and any upgrades made on a monthly basis. To sign up for our ShareASale program and more information, please visit http://www.shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=37818.
I agree that a recurring income would be much more beneficial.
I found this thread because I was interested in becoming a hootsuite affiliate also... but only paid on the first payment.. and their first payment is usually $5.99 so I would have to bring in like 200 accounts a month for your affiliate program to be worth anything to me. It's sad.
I believe you should definitely find a way to change the commission structure to encourage affiliates to promote your product. A lower income per sale but a recurring income is a much more interesting partnership. Hope you do consider and implement this asap!

Lifetime value to you has to be lifetime value for your affiliates, or else it's just unfair beyond reason, considering they brought you the income stream (and more importantly, the actual human customer) to you in the first place.
