offer the option to sort feed/stream results by language.
It would be convenient to be able to remove tweets in certain languages from my hootsuite streams. I am concerned that I may miss important tweets because I'm scanning over tweets in German, Danish, etc...

We’re happy to spread the word that users are now able to add a language filter to search. When adding a search stream, use lang:de or lang:es, etc. before the search term to only pull in tweets in that language.

+3 for this update. I work in Belgium and if I want to monitor the brands I'm working for, I need to filter on Dutch (nl) and French (fr). Also being able to filter on country (location) would be a huge benefit. Thanks for your swift reply and action Hootsuite ;-)

Might also be cool to be able to set your preferred language - and have foreign language tweets auto-translated into English - along the lines of the similar feature in gmail.

Trying to build an exclude list of common words in the languages I don't want = painful. Adding a simple "en" search operator would be terrific.

I've just realized that the search at search.twitter.com has the capability to select by language - so how come this functionality isn't mirrored into hootsuite?

Agreed. This would indeed be a useful feature. I'm starting to find more and more searches turning up stuff I can't read.
