ow.ly links in Facebook don't include image thumbnail or preview text
Links shared on Facebook fan pages have higher click-throughs if they include the thumbnail image and the lead-in/preview text sentence or two. When I submit an ow.ly link via Hootsuite, these images & text previews don't render, just the link.
You will likely see this feature added soon – thanks for suggestions.

I am having this issue and unless this is something that is going to be fixed rather quickly I will need to move elsewhere. Posts of links dont clicked unless there is an image. Plain and simple.

Also, look at how special characters are displayed when passed to facebook.
In my dashboard, a blog post reads, "I'm glad I've finally found..." but in facebook, it's displayed as, I'm glad I've finally found... " -

In the past, my links posted on my fan page perfectly with a thumbnail and customized description. Lately, however, either the thumbnail & description are missing, or it doesn't post at all.

Make sure you are using the open graph protocol meta tags on your pages.

Also I hate ow.ly - it's filled with horrible hootsuite adverts... should be ad free if you're paying for pro.

+3! This is NOT a duplicate. It's a request to fix FaceBook link posting so that preview text and a preview thumbnail are shown. Right now I simply cannot use HootSuite to post to my FaceBook fan page, and that's a problem worth fixing!

This is NOT a duplicate. Attaching an image and having the image preview thumbnail attached to the link are two different things. (I read your suggested link btw). To better understand what ppl are referring to, check out blogspot and post from a blog to facebook. It includes a short description about your post and a thumbnail (if you included one in your post). I really would like to see this functionality. Right now, hootsuite just doesn't cut it for posting to facebook.

Julie, what shorting links are you using? none of the ones i'm using work.

You can schedule ahead of time and use a different type of shorting link (one besides ow.ly) that will keep the thumbnail image. It's a major pain to do this. If another solution exists, I am not aware of it. Please let me know what you find out.

Was this feature ever added? I just started using Hootsuite and all our scheduled posts on Facebook are not displaying the thumbnail and preview of article. If it is has not been resolved, I am going to find another service to do it. The thumbnails and previews are way too important not to have.

Oh MY!
You forgot to add a 'share' link to each thumbnail posts. That is a huge benefit to posting with thumbnail posts as opposed to status posts.
Two main traffic benefits are the ability to have the popular posts shared on Facebook and to have that shared link reference the Facebook Page that it came from. Please add the share link to the thumbnail posts that would be so great.
