provide an option to disable the ow.ly toolbar permanently
The ow.ly toolbar is presently enabled by default unless the user closes it. I'd like to proactively disable it so that the url shortening service works like other services (e.g. bit.ly, tinyurl, etc). These services don't require a toolbar.
Starting today, users have the option of choosing between framed and non-framed URLs. Ow.ly will have no frames, while Ht.ly will continue to display the social bar.

It should be a good thing to be able to use directly bit.ly in hootsuite.

@Dave_HootSuite Other URL shortening services can provide basic stats without the frame. Check out bit.ly

If HootSuite were to offer this service, then it would have to be a different shortened URL since ow.ly already has such a bad reputation.
If you use Firefox and don't mind installing a script for Greasemonkey, you would love this script that I wrote: http://bit.ly/forhootsuite

Do the benefits of the Ow.ly statistics make up for the use of the ow.ly shortener?

@blackhat480 - Same here. I stopped using HootSuite because of this.

This is the main reason I quit using HootSuite.

I have a site hosted on the Ning platform. Ning doesn't allow their sites to be viewed in iframes. I REALLY need the ability to disable the iframe for links to my site.

Dear god, please do this. I dislike the toolbar so much, that I quit using ow.ly links. Instead I have to create links in bit.ly, then copy back to hootsuite. It's pretty annoying, but not near as annoying as the toolbar. If we were able to disable the toolbar, and have ow.ly links work like bit.ly, hootsuite would be perfect social media tool.
I would even pay $10/month for pro account if it would allow me to use bit.ly or disable the ow.ly toolbar.
