I want to be able clear read tweets/status updates that I've already read..
I'm coming to HootSuite from TweetDeck and it was very useful for me to be able to clear my columns after I'd read/skimmed through my received tweets and status updates so when I next looked at TweetDeck I start with a clean slate and don't have to try to remember/find where I left off in each of the five Twitter accounts, three Facebook fan pages, personal Facebook feed, and two mySpace pages that I manage. I really love HootSuite, but this is a feature that I'm really missing from TweetDeck.
We’ll explore this idea some more.

The best way to achieve this is via ifttt.com Lets just hope hootsuite can fix their ongoing issue of the authorization of hootsuite to ifttt.com . .It keeps getting blocked due to the volume of api calls from ifttt.com . i
Any rate this is what to do
ifttt.com can use data from a variety of sources and then send to hootsuite for posting or auto schedule. So then like gmail , you could add tags, that get read, and then that would only go to one place.. if an item is tagged then you sent it to X -

Yes please. I'm on a 30 day trial and looking to find something to replace Tweetdeck with, but I don't think I'll stay after the trial is up, as the ability to schedule is the only reason I'm leaving my antique Tweetdeck. I can always schedule through something else, but being able to clearly read the tweets is my #1 priority.

Yes! I'm in the same boat - I'm shifting to Hootsuite from Tweetdeck, and that's the one feature (aside from the "pop up" that Tweetdeck spawned when it caught new tweets) that I really miss!

Hootsuite is a great program ... except the lack a way to clear read tweets from the columns. PLEASE add this. It's the difference between a useful app and a useless one. Thanks.

FYI:
"We don't have an update on this at the moment. We haven't forgotten about the idea, but we don't have anything to announce at this point."

I just started the 30 day free trial of HootSuite Pro, which I really don't want to cancel, but *definitely* will if this feature doesn't at least get put on the roadmap in the next 30 days...
I want this for my Twitter feed/lists - I especially want this for the RSS Reader App!

Really, hootsuite has a lot of nice features, but it takes up WAY too much real estate on the screen and is almost unmanageable unless the only thing I'm doing is social media work. Socialite has a much more controllable (and READABLE) environment. I can quickly scan new posts and tweets and hide everything else. That can keep me current instead of wondering where the heck I am in the universe.

I really do wish there was a way to mark as read. Scanning things you've already read is way time-consuming and will often result in missing things anyway...

Please enable an option to remove read Tweets from Hoot Suite!

The option to go back to Tweetdeck/Air is gone because it will be discontinued in May :-( And the Web version only allows to clear the complete coloumn, not only read tweets.
So please Hottsuite add this feature and you will get a lot of happy Tweetdeckers as new customers.

do yourself a favour... if you value time, and hate re-reading the same tweets... move to TweetDeck. I've been using HootSuite, and checking this feedback item for at least a year to see the comment increase but nothing else. I'm much happier now... "clear column" in TweetDeck, simple, but oh so good.

I will switch to hootsuite the moment marking tweets as read is added. And I won't even consider it until then. Just to add my voice to the crowd

3 years now and this still has not been added! Still using Tweetdeck because of this!

I definitely agree with this. I'm bombarded with information that I already know. TweetDeck allows me to do this so the only notifications that pop up are new ones. It's extremely nice. That's the main reason I'm using TweetDeck more than HootSuite right now, even though I do believe HootSuite offers much more.

This feature must be added

This was the main feature I was looking for when I signed up. Everything else looks great. You know if Flipboard beats you to it, that'll be an interesting day.

Yep, a Dealbreaker. I really don't understand how there are so many feature starved social media managers.
I'm fed up enough to consider writing a program for my personal use.

Same here, add the clear column feature to Hootsuite or I'll just keep using Tweetdeck! Sad no one has fixed this issue yet...

My Tweetdeck just stopped working. I want to switch to Hootsuite but they still don't have the clear columns option. Tells me that Hootsuite doesn't care about user feedback.
