Offer the option for pop up notifications (especially desktop client).
I like the sound notification. But that is only for the live tab. We loose out on what is going on in the other tabs. Especially if we are working on other documents and have hootsuite in the background. A optional notification for all tabs would be great. A optional pop up would be even better. Again...for all tabs. Not just the live tab.

I Agree that the notification pop-up is essential. And not having this available (via Growl i.e.) makes Hootsuite way less interesting. I changed to Hootsuite and practically everything suits me better then in Tweetdeck but I am considering going back to Tweetdeck just for the notifications.. We are almost one year further... what's the status?

Yes, the lack of popup notifications in HootSuite is why I don't use it (and instead use TweetDeck). HootSuite tabs get lost amongst the many other app tabs and 'out of sight out of mind' means I can miss opportunities to interact (in a timely manner) with someone who @ mentions or DMs me/us. Growl support would be great, especially if the types of notifications are highly customisable, as they are in TweetDeck.

Hi,
Just started testing a Firefox addon that I've built to provide popup notification while using the HootSuite in the browser. User can simply add a white-list of Home users they are following. I'm no longer bound to constantly check and recheck tweet messages. Right now currently only for Windows.Regards,

I really like hootsuite but I NEED notifications. Growl notifications would be awesome. Atm I am using hootsuite along with echofon ... the latter is just there for notifications ....

I would LOVE to use HootSuite, but I can't until it has notifications, ideally with Growl support! It is just not practical on a small laptop screen to constantly check the browser or desktop app to see what's new.
Please include notifications, maybe like the ones in Socialite!!!

Hootsuite has not implemented this function, despite what Chris says.
Mark's suggestion was for a DIFFERENT sound when a mention or DM is made, rather than the constant bleeping when any old update is received. -

Knowing there are new tweets available is almost inevitable if you follow lots of people. But knowing if you have any @mentions or DM's would be very useful indeed. So, a different sound for those, please!

This is the only feature missing, gotta have the HTML5 desktop popups, yes its Chrome only at the moment, but why would you use any other browser? I'll even send you the javascript to fire off the popups! Come on.
