Add ability to filter out tweets based on hashtags.
Often I like to follow every tweet from one person exept one topic this person also talks about.
For example I want to filter out every tweet that has the hashtag #htc or #android, because these topics don't interest me.
Another example: Remove every tweet that is a retweet from @someone I already follow.
Right now, you can do this in a search or keyword column by adding the “-” argument in front of the term you’d like to filter. This functionality is not available yet in home feeds and mentions columns, though.

Linked to this: Ability to select "exclude from home feed" when adding an account to a list (exactly the same as Google's "skip the inbox" option when creating a mail filtering rule).

4Square, #xfactor every soap opera, Instagram, you name it, I want it out of my feed.

Pleeeaaase make this available on home feed ASAP. I'm sick of having otherwise good tweeters clogging up my time with Big Brother, X Factor or football nonsense

Thanks Chris, but the idea is to get tweets out of the main feed so that we do not have to see subjects we don't care about (like politics). Better to filter based on words, be it a hashtag or not.

I detest 4Square and other location tweets and sorely miss this option. Tweetdeck has it and I find it a godsend.

Really need this "-" filter in the home feeds... I have so many people that I follow that it's impossible to create a custom feed just to have a hashtag filter.

It would be really, really nice to be able to filter out #sxsw right now.

It would be good to be able to filter out RTs of the same tweet when you have searched on a hashtag. So, when I have a column of tweets created from a hashtag I'm only interested in the first tweet, not all the other RTs of it. It's very time consuming to scroll through them all.

Are you Twitterers able to establish, labourlessly or labourfully as you like, when Twitter chat will appear on the social network??

It's one of the best new abilities Twitter has recent allowed about filters, tweets and hashtags.

@Chris - that only works for a few keywords that you want to exclude - and as you say it only works for the search columns. The biggest problem with using the - exclude operator in search columns is that you're character limited. So if you've already got a complex search query - and lots of spam - it's impossible to tune out much of the spam.

Yes, a "Mute" option. Like TweetDeck or Seesmic.

TweetDeck does this and it's sorely missed in HootSuite.

I think you should be able to enter a negative word or phrase i.e. "-annoyingtopic" in any feed or search.

giving it 2 votes, as I'd like to second andy's suggestion to generalize it to more of a global filter (i.e. tweet deck)
-
andybryant commented
This should really be generalized so that you can filter out any key-word from anything shown through hootsuite. You could then mask out spam messages, messages from people you're not interested in seeing content from, or hash-tags that you're not interested in. Tweetdeck have this feature http://twitpic.com/2aw7yl and Guy Kawazaki loves it.

multiple filters would be good.. and decide whether the keyword is to be included or excluded.. that way you could have one column only displaying whenever your friends mention a competitor for example..
