Add ability to filter out tweets based on hashtags.
Often I like to follow every tweet from one person exept one topic this person also talks about.
For example I want to filter out every tweet that has the hashtag #htc or #android, because these topics don't interest me.
Another example: Remove every tweet that is a retweet from @someone I already follow.
I'd like to be able to filter out things (especially junk) from my keyword stream. I get companies with similar names in my keyword stream and I'd like to be able to filter them out.
I would like the implementation of negative hashtags for streams if they don't already exist. A lot of times the tags I follow are polluted with crap like #teamfollowback etc. and I would rather not see any of those tweets entirely.
I would like to be able to block things such as foursquare tweets and certain trending hashtags that have worn out their welcome.
so for facebook status updates only show those matching the keyword.. allows for better brand management use.. can see when someone mentions something related to your brand and respond
I want to be able to exclude certain #hashtags to for example avoid certain conference #hashes
There is an increasing number of annoying services like foursquare, bit.fm etc. that automatically generate tweets. Fortunately, these tweets can be recognized by their source. It would be great if one could define filters to just hide them from view.
Right now, you can do this in a search or keyword column by adding the “-” argument in front of the term you’d like to filter. This functionality is not available yet in home feeds and mentions columns, though.

PLEASE implement this. I don't need to see everyone on my TL telling me the same news at once.

I just added 3 votes but it needs to be in Home Feeds and other streams.
filter out & do that with a time option (today, weeks, months, years, ever)
I'm not Anonym
I'm logged into http://hootsuite.com/dashboard on another tab :p

+1 for a more sophisticated way to filter out retweets.

Are you Twitterers able to identify, labourlessly or labourfully as you like, when Tweets talk will appear on the public network??
Downloading TweetDeck. If this doesn't get implemented, I'm switching for good. I don't need to know how many flowers were in the olympic flower baskets or how many olympic medals won by people's whose names start with Q. There aren't enough filter characters in the hashtag search either.
Please add this functionality! I'm actually looking at other Twitter clients because I need this so much.

Really surprised to see this one hasn't been implemented yet or closed off? A good example of where this is need is where there's a conference with a hashtag that's creating excessive noise in your home stream due to overlaps in your follow list with conference attendees . We're busy telling folks to filter out the hashtag if the noise level is too high but how can we do this if clients don't support it?
I've heartily 2nd this. NEED filters for home timeline. I've got far too many otherwise sane Tweeps I follow who triple the density of my timeline on Fridays. And most of them use @ffhelper - so suppressing display of tweets that include @ffhelper whould be MUCH appreciated!!
I would love to have this feature in the really next future!!!

Linked to this: Ability to select "exclude from home feed" when adding an account to a list (exactly the same as Google's "skip the inbox" option when creating a mail filtering rule).

4Square, #xfactor every soap opera, Instagram, you name it, I want it out of my feed.
Pleeeaaase make this available on home feed ASAP. I'm sick of having otherwise good tweeters clogging up my time with Big Brother, X Factor or football nonsense
Thanks Chris, but the idea is to get tweets out of the main feed so that we do not have to see subjects we don't care about (like politics). Better to filter based on words, be it a hashtag or not.

mute users in a search column, goodbye spammers!!!
I detest 4Square and other location tweets and sorely miss this option. Tweetdeck has it and I find it a godsend.
Really need this "-" filter in the home feeds... I have so many people that I follow that it's impossible to create a custom feed just to have a hashtag filter.
It would be really, really nice to be able to filter out #sxsw right now.
