I suggest you ...

Add the option to have automatic replies to new followers

Having some dashboard control of viewing and/or replying to new followers would help for PR and customer relations purposes. Auto-reply for new followers would be incredible. Thanks!

Fully agree: please add this feature! I'm highly surprised that it's not in there already...

This doesn't make sense. I will seriously reconsider using Hootsuite when Socialoomph does it. I think that you don't understand what spam is??

I also support the need for this feature. I looked at other social media management applications and they do it, why not Hootsuite? I want to be able to auto-respond to new followers and I don't see how that can be classed as spam; the person who has decided to follow my account did so because they want to see my tweets or are interested in my product/brand. I'm then going to send them a direct message back, related to what they just bought into. That's not unsolicited spamming.

Please add this feature. I agree with Lyj_e1. This is the reason we paid for Hootsuite pro so that the system will help us automate multiple accounts.

At the end of the day, it's a tool for the work, in whatever way it is used is depend on individuals. Posibilities of spam should deprive the right and the need for other people to use it!

Crazy response. This is one of the reasons why we paid for hootsuite pro to automate many of the tasks needed when managing multiple accounts.

Surely there are ways to allow automated messages AND deal with spammers? This is a win for the spammers! If people want to spam then they can do it anyway. You're cutting out a large segment of your market by doing this. There's a real need for it, especially for those of us who work in marketing and use it daily to manage our Twitter whilst having to do other things. In fact I'd say it would be one of the most important features to have. Which is why I'm still using other Twitter management dashboards over Hootsutie at the moment. Copying and pasting direct message replies gets very tedious after the first 50 or so.

I support the request to add the auto replay feature. I manage 3 account for 3 different locations of the same brand. The work accumulates. I cant do it anymore manually but I would like to have this feature.I'm happy with hootsuite, but the moment another software will give me all your feature Plus this one- I'll switch. Think about it. Not a threat, just a real necessity.

please reconsider this Hootsuite - the spam and TOS arguments are not valid as your other features such as scheduling could be used for spam too, but you still provide them, this is just a basic feature that your customers want and that is available in the market, so if people can't get it from you they will switch providers

      • Alana.Alana. commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Damn. After getting everything set up with Hoot Suite, I'm now looking at other providers. I don't like having my communication options limited. :( Might want to re-think this decision, guys!

      • MinaMina commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

This simple feature seems such an obvious service to offer and is very powerful in personalising that first contact between tweeters. Surely this is not beyond the capability of HootSuite to provide?

      • AnonymousAnonymous commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Are you out of you minds. You can limit to first autofollow per. If someoe is going to spam there are other ways to so it. Signed up for premium Goatta rething that

      • Stefanie RStefanie R commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Please add this feature! You can restrict it to first time DMs to people who follow you to keep it from being used to spam. It is so important. I work at a small nonprofit and this would save us SO much time.

I find Hootsuite's non-answer less than acceptable. I will be cancelling my paid use this month.

      • AdultMMAdultMM commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

We were going to upgrade our account so that we could utilise this feature and don't find hootsuite's response makes any sense. Please reconsider based on the needs of your clients.

      • DutchUmbrellaDutchUmbrella commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Ditto everyone's responses that Hootsuite's answer doesn't make sense given what other companies are doing.

Do us the respect of answering these requests honestly when you turn them down. Minimally, provide a more detailed response.

      • catcohonycatcohony commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I don't see how it is spam when the person has chosed to follow you. All you are doing is thanking them. Hootsuite's answer is really a non-answer

      • Ben FriedmanBen Friedman commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Seriously... this would really help. Why not just block people who r reported as spamming, and have a reCaptcha every week in order to refresh the ability to Auto DM. This keeps spammers out.
