Perpetual fee for maintaining certification = bad idea
Most professional certification programs charge a flat, one-time fee for the study materials and test. You pass the test and then they certify you. At most, you have to take CPE credits once a year to refresh your knowledge. Other than that, there is no continuous monthly fee to remain certified. Once you've earned your certification, it's yours to keep.
Frankly, HootSuite is valuable but it is not rocket science. Anyone can figure out how to use it. I'm not sure why anyone would need expensive lessons to use it effectively.
I cannot be the only one who is questioning…

Revamp the HSU Certificate so that it is the users upon completion and not dependent on monthly fees.
Currently HSU sells certificate programs without telling the user that they have to pay a continual monthly fee to keep their certificate that amounts to $264 a year if you want to be a certified professional. This is misleadig to the consumer when most certificate programs at real universities are set up as follows: 1) Enroll 2) Pay 3) Complete courses 4) Pass 5) Certificate is the students for eternity (without a monthly fee)
HSU sales program is misleading to students, users and social media professionals. This sales cycle needs to be rethought and adjusted to create true professionals certified…
25 votesHi everyone!
Once you pass the exams and become HootSuite Certified, the badge is yours to keep and you can display it on your website or social media profiles! However, in order to remain listed in HootSuite’s Social Media Consultants directory, you must be an active and paying student of HootSuite University.
The monthly enrolment fee also gives you access to new lecture series and updated course ware. We’ll mark this under review as we look into updating the program.
Thank you for your feedback! -

Hootsuite university should come with pro package
Hootsuite university should be free with pro package.. It's kinda a joke it's not.. I'll go to youtube & learn your pro software that you want me to keep paying for monthly. Kinda stupid you expect us to stick around, but don't integrate us with good training hmmm

Introduce Ambassadors
I know there are a few of us who've already being training people to use Hootsuite for some time, and spend days converting anyone who'll listen onto the platform - why not make use of us. We could help beginners out, answer questions in a forum, help out with webinars, etc.
It's a University - all Universities need Fellows :)

Better University HOME Navigation
In the course of clicking around I find myself repeatedly clicking on what to me is a normal "home" sort of link, when it really takes me straight back to the sign up advertisement. I think you can get rid of this... make the "learn.hootsuite.com" link truly take a user back to the so called "user dashboard" initial view screen.

A Blog Menu Link
There is no menu item on the left to see a listing of all user blogs. This would be a great addition.

Tuition: One time fee
It would be great to see a "per class" or per level (e.g. Hoot200) fee rather than a monthly fee. As an example, I am registered for an 8-week, graduate level, social media class and am paying a one time tuition fee of $2000. It does not require me to continuously pay per month for the class or the certification. Once the class is over, I have a permanent certificate, and I have graduate credits to transfer to another university. The class also covers more than just one social media tool. In theory, this should make me more marketable since…

I'd love to add a Hootsuite certified badge, or other official link to my LinkedIn profile.

Recommendation for the Hootsuite university program
For the Hootsuite university you should not charge anyone until you launch the first course on May 1 & you should allow certified people to remain on your directory. I think this is only fair, as some of us have signed up to get your discount but can't complete any courses until May 1. Also if someone becomes certified they should be able to stay on your directory even if they cancel their account. If you do the work you should be rewarded not penalized.

Hootsuite U does not work well on mobile devices
I've been a Hootsuite U (HU) member for a while. I decided to you my Android tablet to view content for the first time. The experience was really bad.
Please take a look at HU from a mobile user's point of view.
It may look better on an iPad, but on my Motorola Xoom running ICS and Chrome the navigation is very frustrating.
Also, it's very hard to get into HU on a mobile device. The link to access it is on a menu that's only shown on a menu that's hidden behind a mouse-over event. Not a good design…

Forum Search Box
I think it's out of place stuck in the middle of the left navigation. It really just belongs in the forum section when you are actually reading the forum.

Left Side Navigation
This is a separate navigatinal request, and would REALLY help the usability of the "university member area" out:
Why not leave that left navigation there all the time? Why take it away? It's really needed once you are drilled down into sections.

Search University on country
It would be much easier to search on Country in HootSuite graduates http://learn.hootsuite.com/social-media-consultants?offset=0.
People like to find some one nearby. Now they have to search trough all the place names and hope to find one nearby. Thats why I made a list of Dutch and Belgian certified proffesionals. http://ow.ly/kSRtb
But to keep track of who is still certified and keep the list actual is not easy, I have to go over and over again through the website.

The Hoot100 videos still show to add a new network is in the launch menu on the left under Settings. Also the video's Settings area is completely wrong and out of date.
