        Just to be clear, having this feature would mean that when an ow.ly link is clicked in a non-Twitter app (e.g. Facebook, arbitrary Web page), the ow.ly stats are incremented.

          I don't really see the need for this feature as you describe it. I had asked for the ability to register custom a ow.ly paths (e.g. ow.ly/myCoolPage) and use that link in any environment - not just Twitter. bit.ly has this feature and we use it all the time (although bit.ly's implementation leaves a lot to be desired).
