We have now created a feature that informs our users of new tweets while maintaining the column scroll position. This is now available in auto-refresh.

this bugs me so much! i'll be reading (or watching a youtube video, embedded) and when the column updates, my tweet is taken away from me (if watching a video, it vanishes).

Right now, you can do this in a search or keyword column by adding the “-” argument in front of the term you’d like to filter. This functionality is not available yet in home feeds and mentions columns, though.
