Add some user options to Auto Scheduler
I like the Auto-Scheduler concept – I try to only post to our social network accounts about 3 times a day, however, and my first two “auto-scheduled” posts have been scheduled to go up within 45 minutes of each other.
Perhaps a customized setting where a user can specify a minimum time period between postings?
I'd like to have an option where I can put posts/tweets into a backlog bucket without scheduling them on an actual date & time. Hootsuite should then post/tweet them from that backlog according to the autoschedule settings whenever there is a 'spot' available. For example, let's say that my autoschedule setting says to make 3 posts a day and I have scheduled 2 posts for today, then todays third post should come from that backlog bucket.
By default, the items in that backlog bucket are ordered by date/time they have been added to the bucket and also send out in that order. It should be possible to reorder the items so you can prioritize one item over the other.
Reason: I monitor a lot of third party feeds and news letters. I post 3 interesting topics a day. They are autoscheduled and based on the topics I find and want to re-post, all available 'slots' in the schedule are filled days and sometimes even weeks ahead. If I want to re-post a date specifc 'breaking news' item, it means I either have to make a 4th post on a day (which I don't want) or have to reschedule something in all channels (which is time consuming).
Bulk tweet based on when specific twitter account tweets. To attract your specific target audience to follow you. When you promote other twitter accounts by mention them in your tweet. The change is higher that they will follow you and retweet your tweet. So can you guys add a column Tweet when "@person" tweets on to the bulk schedule tweet option. Or auto schedule tweet based on specific "@person" or even when certain hashtag is used.
As an agency we manage multiple client accounts via Hootsuite and most of our team work across everything rather than managing individual accounts.
As the auto schedule function preferences are set per user rather than per profile/account it means that we have to have the same auto schedule options for every client regardless of their desired level of activity.
It would be much better for us to be able to say XYZ Twitter account can auto schedule 20 messages per day, with ABC Twitter account auto scheduling 5 per day, XYZ Facebook Page auto schedules 2 per day but only mid week and so on.
This would give us much greater control over how content is shared for each client and also mean we could make use of the suggested content function.
So for example you want to run a post for 2 weeks. So in in settings for Auto Scheduler you have:
-set the number of times the message you want posted i.e. 5
-between certain time period i.e 8am - 5pm
-on these days i.e Mon, Wed, Fri
-run message during this date frame i.e From July 28 To Aug 8
So there will be 5 posting per day, between 8am-5pm, on Mon, Wed , Fri, and only post on these days within the date frame from July 28 to Aug 8
Bulk uploading does not replace auto scheduling, therefore, the need to be able to auto schedule tweets for a future date is really very high. That would make life a lot easier and allow users to focus on improving the content of tweets rather than having to do daily schedules. :)
I'd like to be able to customize the auto-scheduluer per social media network, i.e., the ability to schedule 5 tweets per day and 3 Facebook posts per day. The auto-scheduler would schedule the remaining 2 Facebook posts to the next day. Thanks!
Add a simplified option of scheduling in the future without entering a time.
Maybe with AutoSchedule turned on there's a button to 'select date' that defaults to 'next available' based on other options?
Maybe with Autoschedule turned off there's an option to auto select time?
Ability to select how many posts are added per day or per week, or frequency. For example auto schedule a new post 2, 3, 5 or 6 hours after the last one.
Currently, scheduling posts in advance does not work with the auto schedule feature. I schedule posts for different clients weeks, sometimes a month in advance and would like to take advantage of the auto-scheduler but on a specific day.
Scheduling is super handy, but when I want to set up future posts, I want them to go out at the best time. Not same day as set up.
It would be cool to have the autoschedule option available for several dates and not only for the current day.
i like to schedule the release of one post a day for 3 to 4 days in advance and that would make things much easier.
I know what times I want to schedule my posts. It would be great if I could pre-set those times into the autoscheduler and then have a 'post next' button so that my post goes when I want it to instead of when the autoscheduler thinks I want it to.
For instance, if I had a setting that would allow all of my posts using auto-scheduler to go out/stagger within a time-window of say 2pm-4pm within a given day. And to expand on that, if there was a setting that every time you used the scheduler, it would only go out during weekdays or weekends, etc.
queue system works well because it may schedule out over several days or weeks. I often do a search for content & queue it up in buffer, but then I have to check between both hootsuite and buffer before scheduling any other posts. I prefer all the capabilities within hootsuite, but the autoschedule feature is limited to 24 hours. This means I have to "queue" up content every 24 hours instead of once a week or every few days.
add timeframes to the autoscheduler and add the option for messages go out during primetime for the different social media
I want that the automatically planned tweets only get posted between times I defined, e.g. "between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m."
Because I have followers from different times zones and the auto planning function posts always late in the evening, which I don't like ;)
Would be great if I could choose a specific Day, for the Tweet/Posting to appear. Meanwhile it only is possible for one day. But I only want to have 3 Postings/Day, so it would be great If I could choose a day for example the next and the Auto-Sheduler finds the right time..
Allow users to pre-set their send schedule for AutoSchedule feature. ie: Send schedule for me would be ...
All of the scheduled messages would then be sent according to the above times and will pull the most recent tweet that is scheduled.
When I use Hootlet to post something I wish I knew what date/time it was scheduled for without having to search for it in the scheduler. It would be great if the completion notice displayed that info.
When you auto schedule updates, the system schedules 10-20 updates for each social media platform. I would like to be able to set the maximum number of updates scheduled on any given day.
I would love to be able to restrict which days Autoschedule posts on. For example, I could exclude weekends or have it post only 3 days per week.
Thanks for the Chrome plugin; it’s a life saver.
At the moment (unless I'm mistaken) you can choose between manual scheduling (i.e. setting a date and time) and autoscheduling (i.e. 'post this out sometime today when it's most likely to be seen').
I would like a new feature that combines the best of both of these options and enables something akin to 'I want this posted out on a particular date, but let Hootsuite pick the best time on that date to send it out'.
Right now autoschedule schedules tweets, but I'd like to schedule a week's worth of tweets and only send out so many a day so as to not exhaust my tweetable material.
Please allow google plus page to be managed from mobile app. Secondly there should be feature like Buffer where you simply have option 'Add to hootsuite' rather then opening app and scheduling. There should be an option where you schedule opening post and set auto schedule after every 1 after that for the other posts.
Sometimes two are scheduled at the exact same minute which is just no good. I'll lose Facebook likes that way, rendering the autoscheduler pretty useless until that feature is implemented.
Ie scheduling posts throughout the week that are auto-scheduled so I dont have to do them day by day.
give the ability to auto schedule on a particular date. I regularly setup a series of posts in the lead up to a promotion but I can only auto-schedule on that day. I would like to be able to auto-schedule tomorrow, then next day and in three days form now etc.
With the autoschedule feature, if a user continuously autoschedules new Tweets, the timing gets "reconsidered" automatically to accomodate for new Tweets in the most effective times.
I want for example (because I post more frequently in time variation of 4 times a day) to make four presets of 4 times in the day and choose from them. And not every time to choose from any hour and any minute... Even if I could make the default minute to 00 it will save me some time.
Allow users to determine the best time frame for auto scheduling of their posts via Hootsuite.
For example they could set a time frame between 5pm and 6.30pm if they felt this was the best to reach their audiences.
Also some functionality to select the frequency or gap between their posts.
I believe at present there are 5 minute differences you can select.
If you can determine this yourself and set the gap, or have schedules posts to fit between the best time frame and evenly distrusted within that time frame it would be great.
I would love to see a feature that allows us to create a group of status updates/ tweets that are randomly sent out over time to our accounts.
We would specify the amount to send out per day along with stating during what time it should be scheduled, along with the option to send them randomly.
I like being able to post at the best suggested time for today, but what if today I want to schedule a post for the best suggested time tomorrow? Let me say "Auto Schedule on Tuesday" or something of that nature.
Hi. I suspect a gazillion people have said this, but autoschedule needs to be able to take a date range for forward-scheduling activities.
It would be great to be able to choose days in the future to auto schedule posts, not just the 24 hours it does now.
It would be great to have en option to set a daily limit for tweets at one day. For example, for me it would be great to schedule 4 or 5 tweets a day and the next tweets i schedule moving automatically to the next day.
We all know that autoschedule works fine and when you post the system select the time it thinks is better for this post, but sometimes you need to post in the next 3 hours, for example, and it would be fine if the autoscheduling knows that you need to find the proper time to post in the next 3 hours.
I sit down and schedule all of my posts on Monday at the start of every week - if I can only set auto-posts for the same day, this feature doesn't help me very much, as I am not going to sit down to schedule every single morning - what a pain in the butt! Why can't we select the day we'd like to auto post on?
A friend of mine turned me onto bufferapp.com. I love it! Why? Because it schedules tweets at times and days that make sense to my audience.
I work off my feeds and tweet screen in off-hours - nights & weekends. If I use Hootsuite to auto-schedule them, they get posted shortly afterwards. For Twitter, this almost guarantees that nobody will see them! WTF?
Go check out the way bufferapp.com works. I would much rather use HootSuite, if you could add feature to your auto-scheduler.
Thanks! Love HootSuite! Promote it to everybody!
I love using auto schedule but it would be great to be able to cap to a certain amount a day. Like 3 or 5 posts a day then it moves into the next day.
Currently, when autoscheduling tweets I end up with a lot in one day and nothing for the following days. Ideally I would like to set no more than 3 posts a day to be sent out on auto schedule, with others defaulting to later days. Is this on the cards?
Refine optimum send times so that you can specify 1 FB post per day 3 Twitter posts per day etc. for each account
Can we schedule a post within a certain time frame? Ex: schedule 1 for optimum time Mon, another for Tues?
A smarter auto schedule: If you have a tweet scheduled for 5p,. but you tweet at 4:55, it bumps the 5pm tweet to 5:30, to space it out
I Autoschedule a lot of posts for the different accounts I manage, and I'll often do it in bursts – a bunch from source A, then a bunch from source B, etc.
Of course, I can't Autoschedule using this format bc then it's a long line posts from, say, FastCo, followed by a long burst from Mashable etc.
I'd love if I could Autoschedule all of them, Lock any that I want to stay put (say a #MusicMonday post or a post timed with a launch/release) and just shuffle everything around those.
@juxta if you have any questions – thanks!
Do I want to optomize for retweets, or do I want to optomize for link follows, or even balance?
Maybe I can choose to schedule one tweet for each. Your ow.ly shortened links would need to be generated individually for each linkk/network/metric combination if you let me schedule for both impact metrics at the same time in order to improve data analysis for training future schedules.
I would love to see the auto schedule feature schedule tweets closer together. Less than 10 a day is very few for a twitter with +15k tweets. I would be amazing to control the interval that it schedules at with having to change the time for every tweet.
Auto-Scheduler is great, but when auto-scheduling #FF during the week I have to schedule by hand. How cool would it be if HootSuite recognized the tweet as a #FF by the hashtag being used in the beginning or end and auto-scheduled for the next available time slot on a following Friday.
you should improve Auto Schedule option
like we can people can Auto Schedule message after 15 minute 30 minute
means we can Auto Schedule message back 2 back after 15 minute
* sorry for poor english
we need to be able to choose how many tweets per day, and between what hours. I tweet for many clients in different timezones, and for some of them, your autoscheduler will schedule 6 tweets before dawn in their location. It also becomes a major inconvienance when your schedualer scheduales 6 or 7 tweets in a 4 hour period even though I needed thoose tweets to last the entire day. And when tweets need to be scheduled a day or 2 in advance, it is impossible to do with autoscedule
Autoschedule - allow scheduling parameters in preferences (like having "hours of operation," either on an account basis or for each stream...). I don't want to post on Saturdays for most of my accounts.
I love the auto-schedule feature and use it extensively, but I would love it more if HootSuite allowed me to limit the posts per day, and then automatically roll over additional auto-scheduled posts to the next day.
For example, if I set the limit to 2 auto posts per day, I could just sit and type updates and posts and submit them to auto-scheduler, and populate weeks worth of posts. Currently, it does roll over days, but there's no way to limit the number of posts per day.
As it is, the auto-schedule will post throughout the day and night. As a social media manager, I would love the ability to set auto-schedule to only post during office hours for some of my clients who want the optimized times of auto-schedule without the 24/7 impression of availability.
Perhaps one could set buffers for the feature, beginning at a time and ending at a time each day.
I auto-schedule a lot of tweets and I would like to be able to auto-schedule the most important tweets at optimal times.
My less important "filler" tweets would then be sent at less optimal times.
I propose a 3-tier system where:
- 1's are posted at the absolute best times
- 2's are posted in the daytime in between these optimal posts
- and 3's would be posted in the middle of the night.
Allow someone to schedule a tweet for tomorrow (or days in the future) and not set a time, but autoschedule it for the most optimal time that day.
there is no use to AutoScheduling until you make us able to set the time between the posts that it made automatically
Buffer lets me predetermine a post schedule. Say I want to send three tweets per day, every weekday at 9am, 11am, and 2pm. I set those times as my recurring tweet schedule. Then, I just click the Bufferapp add-on, and it automatically adds whatever page I'm on to the next available slot in the queue (even if the next available slot is the next day instead of today).
I like the auto-schedule feature in Hootlet, but I'd like to be able to pick my own schedule to follow every day, and add articles to that queue without ever having to look at what time they'll go out. They just automatically get sent, one at a time, according to the schedule I already laid out.
Well especially because Twitter and Google+ are streams that message might not be seen today, but if can setup Auto Schedule for multiple days then that's golden.
The auto scheduler is graet and long overdue but we need a way to set the maximum number of tweets per day, similar to timely.js or buffer.app
Hi everyone! Thank you for waiting.
As you may have noticed, we’ve recently released some updates to the HootSuite Autoscheduler. These updates will allow for customizing how many posts to be scheduled, what time frame to schedule them in, and what days of the week to schedule them for.
To find these Autoschedule options, click the gear icon next to the Autoschedule on/off toggle in the compose window or head to Settings>Autoschedule.
If you wish to learn more, please head to https://help.hootsuite.com/entries/21594338-Scheduling.
We’ll be keeping this feedback post open to let you know about any new additions to the HootSuite Autoscheduler as they become available.
Thanks for using HootSuite!

I am in the same position as Lisa Rangel. I currently have 15 accounts on Hootsuite and each need a different auto schedule. I have been using buffer for this as well because of the customization. Is there a way to do this that I am not aware of?
Lisa Rangel commented
I really need to be able to differ the number of scheduled posts to different networks. For example, I post up to 20 times in a day to Twitter, but I don't want more than 2-3 posts going to Facebook. The limit of 10 per day is a problem for me too. I'm forced to use Buffer for a lot of posting because of these two problems.
Jodi McFarlane commented
I'd like to set the frequency for auto scheduling. For example I prefer to post once a day for LinkedIn

It would be nice to have the option to provide more contol over the times posted. HubSpot has a very nice way of doing this. You just select the times of day for each day of the week. When you autoschedule a message, it just fills in the next available slot. Simple. Direct. I know what will happen.
Today I found on my hootsuite account that the day & week schedule not shown up like usual. I only can see the list schedule. Somebody can help me to find out the reason why I found this case?

The new feature to be able to set days of the week etc for auto-scheduler is great - but it would be even better to be able to set it differently for each type of profile - e.g. one setting for Twitter, one for Linkedin, one for Facebook - etc. Each channel needs a different number of posts per day.
I was told by Hootsuite to add my suggestion there:
There should be a way to designate importance to certain posts when using hootsuite auto schedule. For many organizations using it, some posts are just article updates but other posts are promoting original user content which have obvious higher priority so there should be a way to designate which posts get more precedence for auto schedule
If you want to schedule your posts from e.g. 3 PM to 2 AM in the night, this is not possible. You need 24 hours in each box to allow free scheduling. I live in Europe but post to a US best time to tweet schedule. AS the US is 9 hours behind our time zone, I need to schedule like described.
Try to enter such a schedule and you will find out that your developers ignored this scenario, which is very common for all customers doing business in other timezones.

auto scheduler seems to have a phobia about posting between 6pm and 12am (or between 12am and about 8am).
If I set it to schedule 24 hours, it doesnt not schedule for those 24 hours. It avoids certain times, as I posted above.
So then I narrow the times - for example, I just set it to schedule between 6pm and 12am. But it hates posting at these times so much, it just puts one at 12am, then another at 12:05am.. etc
Why is hootsuite geared to hate certain times? And why does auto scheduler not override this?
Pavani Reddy commented
This is a great solution and can only be made better if you may customize between accounts. Meaning 2 per day between 8am and 6pm for the Facebook account ad 4 per day between 9am and 4pm for the Twitter account.

The current Autoschedule settings are not granular enough. There is a setting only to limit how many posts/day and which days of the week, but not how frequently the postings are scheduled. The setting should include a third option, "posts must be" x "number of minutes apart" or something to that effect.
Sophie Davis commented
Am I the only one having major problems with the new autoschedule settings?? No matter what I set them to, the posts go totally rogue, not limiting to a certain number per day, or posting at off times. For instance, this afternoon I composed five posts, and set them to autoschedule. My autoschedule settings are set to 3 posts/day, between 7am and 10pm. The posts I scheduled are actually set to post at: 12:00 a.m., 12:05 a.m., 12:05 a.m. (yes, two different posts are scheduled on the same networks at the same time), 12:15 a.m., and 12:15 a.m.
Help, please!! This has been an issue ever since the addition of the settings!
I've just find this blog, and i was so exciting to find out that now you can regulate how many post go out in autoschedule, but i also find out that you can only post 10 post per day... my client likes more that 10 post, this is because we use Hootsuite mostly for Twitter and we like to send at least 20 tweets per day. Is this going to change? am i going to be able to post more than 10 post in autoschedule?
Thanks for the update though.

I'd like to combine a few of the comments into a way to use this feature I think would work really well. The ability to customize by platform is essential, I'm sure most users want to post more frequently to Twitter than Facebook. I'd like to see an option to repeat posts (I sometimes like to post updates to Twitter more than once to get them seen. Future date scheduling is extremely important, but I think a better way to organize the feature would be to have a setting to auto-schedule out 1 post / day for a certain number of days (week?) and as the 8th post is scheduled, the second would move from the next day to the current day.
In the end, this is probably my most-used feature but I would really like to be able to customize just about every aspect of it.
The new options are not customizable by platform. This would be ideal, as I prefer to post up to 10 times on Twitter, but maybe only 2-3 times on Facebook each day. Also, the times of day that my users engage with each platform is different. I'd like to see an option to customize each day for each platform, and also space out by "must have 2 hours between posts" or similar option. Additionally, autoscheduling for future dates rather than just the day of.

IMO the users shoud have the option to set a pre-defined schedule like another social media managemant app which i won't mention here.
That way you can build your schedule once based on whatever criteria you have in mind and then just write your updates/posts/tweets/etc.
Eric Chan commented
Really interested in the autoschedule feature but currently not using it.
I would really like a feature to autoschedule message groups instead of just individual messages i.e. posting on Facebook and Google Plus at the same time.
This serves to transmit a consistent message across different social networks.
Alternative: Allow the autoschedule algorithm to recommend ideal posting times and leave it to managers to decide the actual time.

Thanks guys, loving the updates. Still a little bit of room for improve but all in all I love it.
p.s. I think this update is a start but besides the multiple posts per day issue I think we all want to be able to select the day and then let it select the time! Right everyone??
Is this new update going to work with hootlet as well?
