Offer the option to hide retweets in a stream
One of my columns is a twitter list. It's a very focused list, but lately it's getting crowded by retweets. I would like to keep this stream focused to just the people in the list. I do not want to see the retweets in this stream.
Please offer an option where we can hide retweets in a stream.
Just wondering why I have to see every time someone has retweeted a Twitter status in my stream? I have the word 'Derby' as one of my keywords, and recently Manchester United mentioned the word in a status, that got retweeted 660 times, and i'm seeing that comment in my stream, 660 times... I'm spending god knows how much time trying to filter through that mess for actual comments that are relevant to me. Can this be fixed?
Some users, while their own tweets are fine, constantly RT their mentions. (especially celebs) also endlessly whatever is trending. I'd like to be able to block their RTs.
This is an interesting idea! We’ll look at how we can add this feature to streams in the future. Thanks for your feedback!

Twitter give you the ability to toggle retweets on and off on the profile page of any Twitter user. This is great!
Their API should let you see that toggle. I don't know if it does, but it sure should.
Also, the "-RT" criteria makes no difference as mot retweets don't show that anymore.

I have a very simple search stream that is for @HootSuite. That works fine. But one post from @HootSuite today generated _42_ retweets, all of which showed up in that simple search stream.
That pretty well makes that stream useless to me. I don't want to have to scroll past 42 retweets. That is ridiculous. And there are still more posts that generate retweets as well. Out of 100 tweets in that search stream, about 80% of them were retweets.

Please add this option. You just see the same tweet over and over. It makes the product unusable.

@James Partington, the twitter API allows to hide the retweets with the parameter "include_rts=false". https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1.1/get/lists/statuses

Hi all, thought I'd chip in to provide a workaround to this issue.
Unfortunately the twitter API doesn't allow for Hootsuite to toggle retweets on & off from within lists.
However, in HS you are able to create searches which provide a tailored information stream for specific twitter handles (i.e. just like a list) which do NOT include retweets.
For example, if I wanted a list of twitter updates from Prem Rugby, Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Football and WITHOUT any retweets, I would create the following search query within HS:
from:premrugby OR from:skysportsnews OR from:skyfootball -RT
I am not aware of any maximum number of search terms so I hope this helps you all work around this 'retweets within lists' issue

I know you can remove retweets from a #keyword based stream. But my streams based on lists are still way too full of retweets - I can't figure out a way to remove them.
Tweetdeck has this feature. Hootsuite does not.

Seriously Hootsuite, ADD THIS OPTION!! I miss Tweetdeck for this reason.
It has been almost a year since this request has been made. Has anyone found a way to achieve this yet?

Please do something to hide retweets. Furthermore, people I follow tend to show tweets from people I cannot bear.
I am all for this. I think I requested it yesterday but hadn't seen this. It's probably been deleed being a duplicate. I DID do a search, honest!. :D

I'm getting way too many retweets in my streams. I may move off hootsuite if this doesn't get resolved.
I agree my feed is filled with retweets

+1 - I voted for this idea but I would have requested it if it hadn't been suggested already.

This would be so helpful. When you're following a hashtag people often retweet so you get multiple copies of the same message and it's just too noisy.

I agree, all Twitter clients should let us toggle visibility of retweets off and on.
