Post links to Facebook with image thumbnail and title/preview text
It would be great to add the ability to post links to FB with the same features already available in Hootsuite web dashboard, i.e. include an image thumbnail and title / text preview
the hootsuite ios app should have an option to post images instead of it being published as a link
Facebook status updates that include images show the image as a link. Let that sink in for a moment.
You basically cannot post an IMAGE to Facebook using this app. Does that make any sense? What a waste of time.
Unfortunately, the option to hide the image URL is not available on the iOS app. Images can only be posted as an ow.ly link. While this isn't currently an option for the app, I'd encourage you to suggest it on our Feedback Forum! It would definitely be a great feature to have! You can submit a suggestion at:
Give this advantage! I want to send everything from Hootsuite and not depend on anything else regarding a picture.
Allow better photo posting from mobile site and apps to facebook so the image shows on timeline, not just a link.
It works well when posting from web - not sure why this limitation is there on mobile.
When I upload a photo, I see a URL on my social media instead of a thumbnail of the photo itself. Who is going to click on a random URL without a graphic displayed?
Right now images will appear as shortened Ow.ly links rather than a full image on Facebook when posting from the mobile app. This is a huge limitation and will prevent me from using Hootsuite . It should upload the picture, people seldom will click on the link making it ineffective.
On mobile Tweetdeck and web version of Twitter, expanding the tweet that has a YouTube link allows you to either see a thumbnail (Tweetdeck) or the embeded video (Twitter). Sometimes, some people tweet YT links without anything else, so having a thumbnail/embed at least gives a bit of a warning.
Twitter : It's be better if the photos are uploaded in twitter as well. Not just only in Hootsuite through ow.ly (as links). Most of my friends unfollowed me because of this where they find it annoyed a lot like spam messages. Hopefully they're modified the features of this where it's able to view as thumbnail from our twitter profile as well as including the ow.ly link in thed description box.
Facebook : Same goes with facebook, uploading pictures into a newly photo album named as Hootsuite, visible as thumbnail with ow.ly link in the description box. To avoid friend from thinking it's a post timeline spam and getting removed from feeds.
These both features will be a big help to get more Hootsuite user instead of repealing user from using & annoyed from it. Please consider this suggestion ! Hootsuite is still the best app to me compared to other apps.
When you post on facebook or twitter with the hootsuit and share a owl link, it doesn't show the photo or video of.the link, and for it the post is clicked less
When I try to post photos to a Facebook page from an iOS app, only the ow.ly link shows. I would like the option offered from the website to post the actual picture, or thumbnail, to my Facebook post.
I want o be able to embed a photo in my message and not just the URL to a photo. This is for Facebook. I want I schedule photo with messages that are not url links to a photo. It could leave the tiny URL for the twitter messages but embed the photo for the Facebook pages.
through the web interface, when posting a video to a facebook page a preview is generated. However, on the iPad app, this doesn't happen, only a link is pasted with no preview. It would be awesome if it had this feature. Thanks.
One reason I use HootSuite is that when a link is posted to multiple social networks, HootSuite properly creates a link preview for Facebook. As I usually crosspost to Twitter and my Facebook Page, because I have two largely different audiences on each service, this is great for me. Unfortunately, the iPhone app does not do this, and just posts the link inline with no preview.
Currently unable to be completely mobile with Hootsuite, because it does not self-generate images with posted links in facebook status. This would give the ability to post a video/picture for a company instantaneous without hauling the laptop around.
When you use Hootsuite via browser and enter a link whilst doing a Faceboo status, it expands to show the full link details and lets you choose a thumbnail.
This is totally absent on Iphone and Ipad versions of Hootsuite.
You should also be able to do this on the browser version when you post to twitter and FB at the same time and shorten the URl.
showing a preview of images would be good so that you don't have open up a link just to see the image
Will HS for iPhone ever be able to show a preview of a link in Facebook like the desktop version does?
Hello, and thank you for waiting.
HootSuite is pleased to announce an update to our iOS and Android applications in response to your feedback. As of Wednesday, March 26th, 2014, we’ve updated the mobile apps to automatically include the image thumbnail and article summary alongside any link you publish to Facebook or LinkedIn.
Although previews are not visible in the app at this time, any links published to either Facebook or LinkedIn through HootSuite’s mobile apps will appear with thumbnail and link previews on the destination site.
We’re excited to deliver a top-requested feature with this release, and thank you for your feedback. Our mobile team is hard at work on a slate of other app developments, so stay tuned!

Unfortunately I have noticed that this does not always work. Sometimes just a link will appear with no preview image and sometimes the image appears no problem. Can not for the life of me figure out what the issue is and submitted a ticket but have no answer yet. There seems to be an issue with this very useful update.
I can't stress enough how URGENT this is. Everybody knows posts with images on FB receive infinitely more engagement. Buffer iOS app has been doing it for a while. Come on HS, we can't stay behind.
Typo...the headline should read "Load Actual Photos to Social Media instead of a Random URL."
An update on this thread would be appreciated. Facebook's latest algorithm change means that link-share posts are ranked more highly than posts containing a URL link. The ability to hide the URL link therefore could affect the visibility of your link post.
"The best way to share a link after this update will be to use a link-share, so it looks like the one below. We've found that, as compared to sharing links by embedding in status updates, these posts get more engagement (more likes, comments, shares and clicks) and they provide a more visual and compelling experience for people seeing them in their feeds."
The flag url For the ios picture!!!
Any progress on this feature?
I would love to have a full picture rather than just the thumbnail.
Please please please, HootSuite, respond about when this feature will be available. There has been no response to this thread since April of 2013, when Anais said this feature is under review.

Yes please add this!
I find this amazing! Out of all the social platforms facebook is the one that relies on pictures, and you don't get that on hoot suite...
Would love to upgrade but not until this function is working, and an OWL link does not work on facebook ether I'm afraid...

Pictures are key when promoting products and ideas. This feature should be a most for this app. I love you Hootsuite, but I really need you to help us on this!

Adding to the chorus - HootSuite is valuable for the ability to schedule posts, but the ability to add a photo to upload (not a link) to a scheduled post is critical. Facebook is visual. Already searching for another platform that offers this basic functionality.
If this feature is not produced then I'm sure I will leave for another platform :(
It's been a year. I have clients that are trying the free trial that don't want to stick with Hootsuite or upgrade to Pro or Enterprise because of this issue. I'm a Hootsuite partner and love Hootsuite, but it's hard to sell a product that is missing a key feature. It's a mobile world.
Additionally, photos should be the default - there should be no toggle switch at all in the browser or the mobile apps - if I'm taking the time to post a photo, that's what I want folks to see - not a link. The internet is visual.

Would like to upgrade to Pro but need this feature.
Hi, Is there any progress on this?
Agreed, the iPad version is perfect. The only problem is the missing thumbnail on Facebook publications. For this missing feature I've been considering purchase Sprout Social.
Very disappointed I cannot schedule a facebook image post. Such a basic requirement.
Considering that photos/images are the NUMBER 1 thing people pay attention in Facebook, everybody REALLY miss this so basic feature...the app is O.K. in other aspects, but EVERY customer get dissappointed when he discover that he can't post a photo, just an ow.ly link that most of the viewers will not pay the minimum attention
